/ world today news/ The Hamas delegation returned to Moscow and again held talks with the Russian government at the level of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov. Prospects for a ceasefire were discussed. The Palestinian delegation officially announced:
Mr. Bogdanov conveyed his country’s position in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and also emphasized his country’s efforts to achieve a truce in the Gaza Strip… The Hamas delegation highly appreciates the diplomatic efforts of Russia, as well as the official and popular Russian humanitarian aid provided to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
This announcement predictably provoked an angry reaction in Israel – they would like Hamas to be unable to communicate with anyone, no one to help them and no one to broker a ceasefire. In practice, however, it is not Hamas that is isolated in the Middle East, but Israel itself. Although almost no one declared war on him.
Hamas relies on military and humanitarian aid from at least Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Iraq. As for Russia, it is strengthening its position in the Middle East and is gradually becoming the great power that will control the situation in the region after the end of the current war.
The reason is Russia’s consistent position in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict: there is no other solution than ending the Israeli occupation of Palestine and establishing a Palestinian state.
Food for thought
The war in the Gaza Strip, Palestine and surrounding countries began on October 7 after a brutal attack by Hamas. An estimated 1,200 Israelis were killed and 242 were taken hostage. Israel declared martial law the next day and has been waging a war ever since, the official goal of which is the destruction of Hamas and is sometimes referred to as the destruction of Hamas’ “military capabilities.” In practice, Israel is literally razing the densely populated areas of Gaza City and the entire Gaza Strip to the ground.
Since the start of Israel’s war against Hamas, more than 23,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s official losses amount to about 2 thousand killed, of which the military is less than 600.
Some Telegram channels, including links to informed sources, write that Israel is hiding its true losses, and in fact, since the beginning of the ground operation, it has lost at least 2,500 soldiers killed and probably even more wounded. Hamas, despite heavy fighting in the Gaza Strip, is holding at least 130 hostages captured on October 7.
Today, the war has affected the territory of several countries: the Palestinian Authority, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen. The United States almost officially entered the war. A carrier group assembled by the Americans is striking Yemen and the Israelis are striking Iranian forces in Syria. In response, pro-Iranian forces attacked US military bases in Iraq. The Yemeni Houthis continue to fire missiles at all merchant ships except those belonging to Russia and China.
The Israeli government has officially stated that the war may continue for many more months or even several years.
Jewish shame
Arriving in Moscow for negotiations at the level of the deputy minister of foreign affairs of Russia, the deputy chairman of the Politburo of the Hamas movement Musa Abu Marzouk gave an interview to the famous journalist Daria Aslamova.
The main point in this interview is the claim that Hamas plans to win the war against Israel, despite the latter’s vast military and technical superiority. Victory, according to Hamas, will be precisely the fact that Israel will not be able to achieve its goals. Apparently that will be the case.
Today, Israel is waging a counter-guerrilla war in Gaza, as well as in Palestine as a whole. The modus operandi of the Israeli army is a punitive operation. The victims of the war are mostly civilians, according to the Hamas Health Ministry, 70% of the dead and wounded are women and children. Even the UN was forced to admit this, calling Gaza “the world’s largest children’s graveyard” in December. Israel acts without paying any attention to the norms of international law.
It attacks the territory of southern Lebanon (where the Iranian-backed Hezbollah movement operates) and Syria (it is said that only pro-Iranian forces and the forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps are being attacked). In other words, Israel is acting as the aggressor, hoping through acts of intimidation to force its opponents to stop resisting, at least for a while.
Israel enjoys superiority in the air and in all types of weaponry. His opponents have no air defenses, no armored vehicles, no artillery, only home-made rockets, anti-tank missiles and mortars. However, the further it goes, the more obvious it is to everyone that Israel is losing the war.
This is precisely the development of events that Tsargrad predicted from the very beginning of the conflict.
How bad things really are for Israel can be judged by what it is now offering to Hamas. And he offers (according to news agencies on January 23) in exchange for the return of all hostages still alive, a cease-fire for two months.
It is clear that on the eve of total victory, no one makes such proposals: after more than 100 days of war, Israel, despite the tens of thousands of Palestinians killed, is as far from achieving its goals as it was on the first day.
Or even became even further away from them. Israeli troops were forced to leave the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Of course, officially – because there they achieved everything they wanted, and unofficially – because the losses became too great.
Anyway, the Israeli brigades left that region and the Hamas forces immediately returned there to their old positions. Musa Abu Marzuq states that “even in northern Gaza, as Israel has acknowledged, Hamas has been able to resume its military operations.”
Why is Israel asking for a truce? Because he did not count on a long, exhausting war and because he was experiencing an internal crisis. In a country with a total population of 10 million people, the mobilization of more than 300 thousand people in the army (there are currently about 500 thousand soldiers under arms in Israel) means a severe crisis in the labor market.
There is no one to work. At the same time, Israel is rapidly depleting its stockpile of munitions, including aerial bombs, rockets and artillery shells. All of this has to be filled in – demanded from America’s allies.
They give, of course, but their arsenals are by no means bottomless, every projectile for Israel is a projectile not delivered to Ukraine. If a truce can be reached for two months, Israel will get its hostages (no matter how you feel about Israel, you can only rejoice in the salvation of these people) and build up the strength to continue the war. But he still won’t be able to win the war: nothing will change in the balance of power.
As a result, Israel will withdraw its troops from Gaza, stop firing on Lebanon, and Hamas and Hezbollah will declare victory because the aggressor has withdrawn.
However, Israel will not actually win the war. He will drag out the fight as long as possible. There is an important reason for this.
An American tragedy
An Israeli defeat would be a fatal defeat for the United States. And of the state as a whole, and – even on a larger scale – of the whole idea of a world “rules-based order”. And on a smaller scale, it will be a defeat for US President Joe Biden, reliably closing his path to victory in the election.
Biden began his presidency by fleeing Afghanistan in panic. He continued the war in Ukraine with promises to “strategically defeat Russia.” And it ends with a war in the Middle East.
If America loses in Palestine and the surrounding area, it will be a political disaster for the Democrats. Based on this, the only possible strategy for the United States is to prolong the war as long as possible. The main thing is that it still continues in October 2024. If it requires an escalation of tensions, the death of American soldiers fighting the Houthis, the use of ammunition, the loss of warships – Biden is ready to do it all.
Moreover, he is willing to escalate with Iran for a long time (to the point of bringing the situation to the brink of a world war) just to avoid admitting defeat.
Now the US Navy, US and Israeli planes, without any declaration of war, are striking Yemen’s defenseless capital, Sana’a. The Israelis are proud that no one can stop them from bombing Damascus and South Lebanon. But every such bombing only demonstrates the powerlessness of the aggressors. Yes, Yemen is under attack, but the Yemeni Houthis have managed to inflict massive damage on merchant shipping in the Red Sea. Eilat in Israel practically does not function as a port.
The change in the routes of international sea trade (12-15% of all cargo transported by sea passes through the Suez Canal) is fraught with a sharp increase in the prices of all goods in Western countries. US bases in Iraq were attacked by Iran or pro-Iranian forces. America needs victories, but there are no victories in sight.
We still don’t know if the Democrats will be able to drag out the war until the end of the year. But we know for sure who will win in the end when the American eagle, well plucked, flies home across the ocean. It will be the Russian bear.
At the very beginning of Israel’s war against Hamas, Biden said that the US “they will not back down from the challenges of Putin and Hamas.” No one has pulled the American president’s tongue. When the US and Israel eventually withdraw, they will be withdrawing from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Yemeni Houthis, Iran and Russia.
This is how it is perceived everywhere in the world. Russia, without engaging in military action, is increasing its influence in the vast region every day, along with Iran and its allies. The United States fighting, losing men and munitions, killing thousands of civilians, is losing its influence every day.
So what?
The war in the Middle East is not “escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict”. This is part of the global war being waged by “the US and its democratic allies” against all of humanity. Their task is to confirm that they maintain hegemony. It turns out that they are poorly maintained: although the United States and Israel have the most advanced weapons and their opponents have at best outdated missiles, the US and Israel face defeat.
In general, we can say that Che Guevara’s prophecy is coming true: “three or four Vietnams” are needed for the American colossus to collapse. Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Yemen are all theaters of war in each of which the US cannot win.
While America loses, Russia will win. But make no mistake: our main theater of war is much further north. No Allied successes in the Middle East will replace military victories in the course of the CSTO.
