New records set in the National Fedeatletismo Ranking – – 2024-02-15 17:44:37

Two new records were set today in the National Ranking #1 Non-Olympic Tournament organized by the Salvadoran Athletics Federation (Fedeatletismo), on the track of the Jorge “El Mágico” González National Stadium, where 245 athletes participated.

The athlete Aarón Hernández, from the Betania club, set a new mark of 2:29.27 hundredths in the 1,000 meter dash in the U18, U20 and older categories; while Juan Moncayo, from the Trojans club, achieved the record by stopping the timer at 1:24.81 hundredths in the open category 600 meter dash.

“I feel very happy with this result, since in recent months I have worked very hard to achieve this record, and thanks to my training. The truth is that it is a result that encourages me to continue fighting, since I have little time to practice this sport and I really like it,” Moncayo commented.

The athletes come from Santa Ana, San Vicente, San Salvador and Guatemala, who competed in the track events that are divided into speed, 60 meters, 150 meters, 300 meters; medium depth are 600, 1,000 and 3,000 meters; jumps: high, long, triple, pole and throws which are: shot, discus, javelin and hammer.

“This event is the first of the year and is to activate athletes to take time and distance parameters prior to future competitions this year,” commented Carlos Clemente, general secretary of Fedeatletismo.

The 3,000 meter dash was dominated by Jenniffer Aguilar with 12:17.92 hundredths; in discus throw, Cecilia Castillo led with 14.50 m.; while in men Mathias Valladares did it with 27.51 m.

In the 600 meter dash, Guatemalan Debora Quel won with a time of 1:39.71 hundredths. For her part, in the pole vault, Michelle Velasco triumphed with a time of 3.30 m; in men, Diego Navas achieved 4.15 m. Joseph Hernández led the 600 meter dash with 1:21.02, while in the 300 meter hurdles, Gabriela Ibañéz achieved 51.01.

Javelin throw was led by Celia Castillo with 11.12 m.; while Jonathan León achieved 43.85 m. Pablo Ibáñez achieved the mark of 37.21. In the 150 meter dash, Alexia Sánchez scored 20.74.

Nathalie Almendarez made a mark of 10.92 meters in the triple jump; while, Henry Hernandez achieved 10.22 m. In the 150 meter dash test, José Mijangos clocked 16.40.
