It looked like it was going to be a long evening for the “Swedish team” FC Copenhagen at home at Parken. After just ten minutes of play, Kevin De Bruyne gave reigning champions Manchester City the lead with a well-directed finish.
It was then an expected advantage for the English champions and a 0–2 goal hung in the air. Then goalkeeper Ederson invited the home team into the match.
Brassen played the ball straight into the FCK gap, which Champions League debutant half-Swede Magnus Mattsson took advantage of, and scored the equaliser.
– Magnus Mattsson! Swedish connection. What a well-placed finish, commented Jens Fjellström in TV4 Play’s broadcast.
De Bruyne showed class
However, the happiness was short-lived. Just over ten minutes later, Manchester City regained the lead through Bernardo Silva – played by a certain De Bruyne.
It then became a stretch of transport until the 92nd minute. Once again the big star Kevin De Bruyne was the director when he delicately played Phil Foden who put the nail in the coffin (1-3).
Viktor Claesson started for FC Copenhagen but was replaced in the 55th minute. Jordan Larsson had to jump in with nine minutes left, while the giant talent Roony Bardghji remained on the bench.
In the second round of 16, Real Madrid won away to German RB Leipzig 0–1 after a class goal from Brahim Diaz.
