President Joko Widodo has met with the Minister of Defense who is also presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto after voting for the 2024 presidential election.
Jokowi admitted that he met Prabowo on Wednesday night (14/2). The meeting was held after Prabowo was declared superior in the quick count.
“Yes, congratulations, congratulations. We’ve met, we’ve met in person,” said Jokowi after opening the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) at JI Expo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday (15/2).
The meeting was attended by four people. However, Jokowi was reluctant to reveal who was present at the meeting.
“Well, I don’t need to mention it,” he said.
Prabowo is presidential candidate number 2 in the 2024 presidential election. He is accompanied by Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is President Jokowi’s eldest son, as a vice presidential candidate.
Referring to the quick count results of various institutions, Prabowo-Gibran was declared superior to the pair Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud.
Jokowi also said the results quick count is a scientific calculation method that has been carried out several times at every democratic party.
However, Jokowi still asked the public to wait for the calculation results which will later be submitted by the General Election Commission (KPU).
“The quick count results are a scientific calculation method. But whatever, we have to wait for the official results from the KPU,” said Jokowi.
The quick count results are not the official calculations for the 2024 Presidential Election because the data was obtained from a sample of TPS. Not taken from all polling stations.
The official results will be calculated by the KPU through a tiered recapitulation from the polling station, sub-district, district/city, provincial to central level. The KPU has a maximum time of 35 days from when the voting is held.
