Brazilian President Lula da Silva began his visit to Egypt yesterday, Wednesday, and began his trip by visiting the pyramids and the Grand Museum, accompanied by his wife, Ganga, according to the Brazilian Bahia Agency.

The agency noted that Lula da Silva’s visit to Egypt coincides with the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Egypt, and the country is currently Brazil’s second trading partner in Africa.
This is the president’s second official visit to the African continent during his third term, and in August last year, Lula visited three other countries: South Africa, Angola, and Sao Tome and Principe.

The Folha de São Paulo newspaper noted that the fight against inequality and hunger, the energy transition, climate change, the reform of international institutions, as well as the expansion of trade between Brazil and African countries, are some of the issues that President Lula must address on this trip to the continent, Which also includes a visit to Ethiopia.
In 2023, the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries reached $2.8 billion, including $489 million of Egyptian products imported by Brazil and $1.83 billion of exported Brazilian products.
