Airbnb, the American rental platform through which citizens can rent out a room or their entire house to tourists, wants to focus on “undervalued international markets” in the coming years and specifically mentions our country. Underrated? Strange, because in Antwerp and Brussels residents are already complaining that too many homes are rented to tourists. “Due to the large supply of Airbnb, rental properties have become a lot more expensive,” says sociologist Pieter-Paul Verhaeghe (VUB).
