London has proposed to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to send a joint expeditionary force to Ukraine and establish a no-fly zone over the territory controlled by kyiv, a source familiar with the matter informed Sputnik.
“Due to an unfavorable situation for kyiv in the Ukrainian operations center, the United Kingdom had proposed to its NATO allies to consider the issue of sending an expeditionary force of the Alliance to Ukraine,” indicated the person consulted.
According to the same source, the United Kingdom also suggested “establishing a no-fly zone over the territory controlled by the Kiev authorities and boosting the supply of weapons and equipment to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”
And while London understands that most NATO members will not support this proposal, it is also aware that if there is a significant weakening of Ukrainian positions, then Western bloc allies will support the British initiative, he said.
“The UK plans involve a covert transfer of large, highly maneuverable Alliance forces from the border regions of Romania and Poland to Ukraine to seize defensive lines along the right bank of the Dnipro River,” the source explained. Furthermore, he commented that, if the British suggestion becomes reality, Russian critical infrastructure could be attacked, as a result of which Moscow’s offensive capabilities could be undermined.
