/ world today news/ Beijing is planning more than 4,000 cultural events on the occasion of the Chinese New Year from January 14 to February 5, including various performances, temple festivals and exhibitions. Some of them will be both in person and online, allowing them to be seen by residents of other countries, including Finland, Greece, Canada and Belgium, the Chinese capital’s Department of Culture and Tourism said.
The Chinese New Year will begin on January 22. Beijing, which prides itself on a variety of cultural events, will provide a wide stage for the celebration this year. “The Chinese capital has set itself the goal of becoming a center for the performing arts,” said Mayor Ying Yun.
