Biathlon: Björndalen on his winning record: “Johannes Thingnes Bö will beat it”

In the clip, Ole Einar Björndalen explains what he thinks about his record.

Few athletes have been as dominant in their sport as Norwegian Ole Einar Björndalen was in biathlon during his career.

The now 50-year-old legend took a total of 95 World Cup victories, including the Olympics and the World Cup, from his World Cup debut in 1993 to his retirement in 2018.

“Will not get any wins for free”

However, Björndalen’s record may be under threat as his 30-year-old compatriot Johannes Thingnes Bö, with the WC gold in the pursuit start, now stands at 80 victories after Wednesday’s victory in the distance.

– Haha, I get to keep the throne for the rest of the season, but next year Johannes will crawl past me if he has a great season, says Ole Einar Björndalen in SVT’s biathlon magazine.

However, the great competition in the Norwegian team means that Thingnes Bö has tough competition for the victories.

– He will not get any victories for free, but Johannes will beat my record, I am convinced of that.
