Carlson calls Justin Trudeau a ‘strange prime minister who often disguises himself’
Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has called on Canadians to pay attention to the treatment of Christians in their country by those in power, some of whom he says push “ultimate fascism” under the guise of “public safety”.
In two speeches Wednesday to packed halls in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, Carlson challenged Canadian political leaders, and particularly Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whom he described as “a strange prime minister who often disguises himself”.
During a 20-minute speech to about 4,000 people at the TELUS Convention Center in Calgary, Carlson said he sympathizes with Canadians because some of his ancestors settled in Nova Scotia, but he thinks the country’s political leadership deserves ridicule and chided Canadians for not sufficiently resisting the totalitarian impulses imposed on them.
„You have to recognize what’s going on. You are not invited to participate in the political debate. What is happening is the destruction of you, your culture, your beliefs, your children and your future as a country.” Carlson said. As confirmation that Canadian authorities despise their own people, he pointed to policies such as the decriminalization of hard drugs in Alberta’s neighboring province of British Columbia, transgender identity laws for children, statistics of increasing government funding of euthanasia.
“They’re not people trying to help you, they’re people trying to hurt you. Anyone who pursues your children, anyone who encourages you to have fewer children, is trying to make you disappear. Literally, it’s that simple.”
Carlson concluded his speech by urging the audience to “see what they are doing to your Christians.”
“I’m a Christian, but that’s not why I’m telling you. I say that because there is no more harmless and peaceful group in the world than Christians. I repeat, there is none. Religion tells us, commands us to turn the other cheek and put the cares of others above our own.”
Carlson directs anyone who disagrees with these orders to explain why they object. “People who pray for [опрощаване] to your enemies? Who does this? Who would pray for his enemy? No one except Christians and they do. This is what they are commanded to do. So if you are bothering this group [християнската], maybe you have something else in mind that we should be concerned about even if we’re not in that group,” he said.
Carlson denounced the burning or desecration of 96 Canadian churches in recent years, which Trudeau condemned as “unacceptable and incorrect”but at the same time it was “of course”, according to claims that mass graves of indigenous children were discovered in the courtyards of Catholic schools. Subsequent excavations, however, found no evidence of human remains at these sites, the New York Post reported.
“If it allows 90 churches to be burned to the ground, and the Prime Minister and his little weird friends approve of that – the burning of churches, if you support the burning of churches, let me just say: I don’t need any more facts, you’re on the wrong side.” Carlson clarified.
Carlson also referred to the Christian pastors jailed during the COVID-19 pandemic, most of whom are from the province of Alberta.
“If you think that preaching the gospel is so dangerous that the people who do it should be in jail, in chains, you are serving someone else, but not the people of Canada. You know what I mean. This is really scary. And I don’t care that they dress it up in the passive-aggressive, hiding their own problems language of the modern left, that it was actually about public security. Every time I put on your horrible TV shows, it’s all about public safety, which is actually a euphemism for extreme fascism.”he added.
Pastor James Coates is the first priest arrested in early 2021 for keeping his Edmonton church open in defiance of government orders during the pandemic. The pastor spent a month in jail after police stormed his GraceLife church at dawn and barricaded it with several fences.
Pastor Tim Stevens of Calgary was also jailed after a police helicopter discovered his outdoor congregation in June 2021. Police arrested him at his home as his young children sobbed. This prompted Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Montana, to express his outrage in a letter to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Pastor Artur Pawlowski also made international headlines in 2021 when he forcibly evicted police and health officials from his congregation, Adullam’s Cave, in Calgary. After that, he was repeatedly arrested: he spent 51 days in jail and again in February 2022, when he preached and offered a prayer to the truck drivers blocking the US-Canada border.
Carlson urged the audience to think about the consequences of the actions of the authorities who “throw pastors in jail for preaching the Christian gospel,” they even insist on increasing lawlessness.
