/ world today news/ The candidate for mayor arrived by train for his meetings with the public in Novi Iskar
The development of the suburban areas of Sofia goes through the development of convenient, clean and modern rail transport at the service of the people and is part of the overall infrastructural development of the capital. This opinion was expressed by the candidate for mayor of Sofia and the leader of the lists for municipal councilors of MK “BSP for Bulgaria”, “LEVITSATA!” and others. Vanya Grigorova, who met with residents of Novi Iskar and the village of Svetovrachene.
She and the candidate for mayor of the Novi Iskar region, Milko Panov, arrived for the tour of the northern suburbs by train. Vanya Grigorova indicated as a priority the improvement of the state of the railway, as it is a fast, convenient and ecological transport. “We are the only capital in Europe that does not have a developed suburban railway,” Grigorova stressed.
“The route is there, only 3-4 new trains need to be purchased. This will ease traffic through Novi Iskar, as well as through the Iliyantsi and Nadezhda districts and in the center of Sofia,” said Milko Panov, who proposed this solution as early as 2019.
“We insist that 20 percent of the money for capital investments in the budget go to the regional mayors, who, in dialogue with the citizens, decide for themselves which are the priority projects in places – whether a street will be asphalted, a school roof will be repaired or something else. Vanya Grigorova declared to the people of Svetovrachene. The candidate for mayor of the village Petar Gurguleev also took part in the meeting. The residents of the Sofia village pointed out serious problems, expressed disappointment with their communication with the Sofia municipality so far and demanded guarantees for change.
Lack of proper infrastructure and huge pollution – these are the main problems that the citizens pointed out. An example was given of the passage of heavy goods traffic in the immediate vicinity of a kindergarten, which is surrounded by clouds of dust all year round. To go to school, children have to cross train tracks due to lack of an alternative route and this poses a risk to their lives, others have warned.
The sewage treatment plant built nearby creates great inconvenience – “it is paradoxical that we are the ones who suffer all the misery and smell coming from the trucks, and we cannot benefit from the station because we do not have sewage,” said a resident of Svetovrachene.
“For me, face-to-face meetings are extremely important, because then a conversation can take place, I can hear the people on the other side, what are their problems, do we have solutions for them or do we still have to think of them,” shared Vanya Grigorova.
“Now I think we have an opportunity to make a breakthrough. Sofia has been blue for 33 years, and “blue” means in the interest of capital, of people with money. Most of us are not oligarchs. And a large part of us do not feel in any way the second largest budget of the country – this is the biggest problem for us.” This was stated by Vanya Grigorova and explained that when the majority of the budget goes to private companies for profits, then a much smaller portion remains to satisfy the public interest – whether it’s wages, streets, sewers, health care, schools, kindergartens.
According to her, when a solution to the problem of kindergartens has not been found for 18 years, it means that there is no political will and the policy being conducted in the Capital Municipality is not in the interest of the citizens. “It is high time that the interest of the ordinary working Sofian was put first,” she added.
Vanya Grigorova and the candidate for municipal councilor and regional mayor of “Triaditsa”, Diana Tonova, who also participated in the meeting, called for a new beginning, change and a mass vote, because, according to Tonova, this is the only way to overcome the expectations of everyone level manipulations. According to Tonova, there is currently a “unique situation that can be felt in the air. There is enthusiasm, there is also a healthy enough dose of disgust, because at the moment there is not even a backstage, everything is on the table, in the open.
“If we all come out to vote, there’s no way our votes will be diluted.” We should not miss this moment,” said Diana Tonova and called to vote for the candidates of MK “BSP for Bulgaria”, “THE LEFT!” and others. with #86 in the ballots.
