How are the Islanders doing since Patrick Roy was hired as head coach?
Well… But it’s not exceptional either.
The club lost by a score of 2-1 last night against the Seattle Kraken, while playing in front of its fans. Yesterday’s defeat means that the New York team has won three games (out of eight) since the arrival of the former CH goalkeeper.
Patrick Roy wasn’t happy with his players’ game, obviously… Because during training this morning, the guys were sweating.
And when I say the guys sweated, I also mean they looked so burned out on the ice that the workout looked intense:

Lou Lamoriello, who doesn’t usually talk much, revealed in a recent interview with Pierre LeBrun that he “loves” the work done by Patrick Roy so far…
But in the media, in New York, there does not seem to be mad love for the new pilot of the Isles.
Arthur Staple, a reporter for The Athletic who covers the Islanders and Rangers, said after watching Roy’s first games at the helm of the team that management should perhaps think more about establishing a long-term plan, time to focus on the next series:
Perhaps the time has come for Lou Lamoriello and his new coach to stop trying to figure out how to sneak into the playoff picture.
Maybe it’s time to find a way to make this team better in the long run. –Arthur Staple
Arthur Staple also supports in its text that the Islanders are not going in the right direction since the hiring of Roy:
#Isles are going the wrong way in Patrick Roy’s first month

It’s a bit harsh, because it’s only been eight games… And it’s also harsh in the light of the fact that the Islanders still have 29 games to play before the end of the schedule.
They are currently three points behind the Red Wings and a place giving access to the playoffs.
They still have time to reposition themselves, even en masse… But they will have to do it quickly before it is too late.
I wonder if Lou Lamoriello is going to be aggressive between now and the trade deadline to allow Roy to have a little more punch to attack.
The Islanders are good defensively, because they have a tight style of play… But that’s not the problem.
The problem is that they are not able to score. The club is 20th in the NHL in goals scored since the start of the season, which says a lot about their offense.
Mathew Barzal may be an excellent hockey player, just like Bo Horvat… But they can’t do everything alone either.
The end of the season could be interesting on Long Island.
A lot of
– Good news for the Rocket.
There was hockey this morning in Toronto and it didn’t go very well for the Marlies who suffered a second stinging defeat in a row after the visit of the Rocket on Saturday. Toronto has only two priority points over Laval in 3rd place and the Rocket is 6th. #tight pic.twitter.com/7kVraYW0p5
