After the warm week, a decrease in temperatures is set, associated with the transfer of a colder air mass, which will lower the minimum temperatures.
The expected maximum temperatures will remain above the climatic norm, the forecasters from Meteo Balkans report. Clouds will remain variable, and there will also be misty or low stratus cloud conditions in low-lying fields. We expect a more significant drop in temperatures on Wednesday. The cooling will be accompanied by snowfall over the mountainous regions.
Already this evening, snow may fall over the extreme southern districts of Sofia.
The weather will remain almost unchanged on Wednesday. With the orientation of the wind from the northeast, the precipitation over the Central Pre-Balkans and in the mountain areas will become active again and will again be of snow. There will also be conditions for blizzards on the passes. Over the rest of the country, the clouds will be broken.
Thursday, Friday and weekend weather
We expect the rain to stop from Thursday. The wind will ease and the clouds will break to sunny weather. Temperatures will rise slightly, but the morning temperatures will remain below zero. In the valleys and lowlands, there will be foggy conditions. The minimum temperatures will be around zero, and the maximum will rise and will be between 6° and 13°C.
In Friday from the west, cloudiness will increase, but it will be mainly medium and high. Temperatures will rise. A weak south-westerly wind will blow. We expect bad weather over the weekend. Expected maximums will be between 8-15°C.
With the wind direction from the northwest, a colder air mass will penetrate. The weather will be mostly cloudy, it will start to rain, and with the cooling in the Western and Central Pre-Balkans, it will turn into snow. Temperatures will drop. Expected maximums will be between 2-4°C.
The outlook is that there will be conditions for light snowfall in Western and Northwestern Bulgaria.
The weekly forecast is based on the European medium-term forecast model and the GFS. Meteo Balkans reminds that such forecasts are uncertain in a long-term 7-day plan, and may undergo changes.
