/ world today news/ Despite the approaching Chinese New Year, express delivery companies across the country have announced that they will not rest during the holiday and will continue to provide normal services to their customers.
According to official data, as of January 22, the number of China’s express shipments reached 132 billion, an increase of 19.4% year-on-year, ranking the country first in the world for the tenth consecutive year. This includes domestic and international deliveries.
The rapid development of the sector is inseparable from domestic consumption, which relies on the rising purchasing power of the vast population. Thanks to this, 350 million express deliveries come to the country every day – this is the volume of the sector.
In 2023, Chinese final consumer spending contributed 82.5% to economic growth, which was 4.2 percentage points. Currently, the number of Internet users in China exceeds 1 billion, and online retail sales of physical goods account for 27.6%, or nearly one-third, of total retail sales of consumer goods.
The transport infrastructure and logistics system are key to the normal functioning of the express delivery sector. China currently has the world’s largest network of high-speed railways, highways and world-class ports. There are more than 230,000 express delivery stations across the country and more than 700 million people are served every day.
The express delivery sector has already become one of China’s business cards. Its rapid development reflects the good outlook for consumption and every small delivery contributes to the overall economic development of the country.
