Four dogs bit another dog to death in Amstelveen on Tuesday. Police officers fired a warning shot and tasered one of the four dogs, but it was in vain.
The four dogs, which belong to the same owner, were not on a leash and attacked the other dog in the Western Hemisphere in the North Holland town. The breeds of the dogs are unknown.
Officers fired a warning shot to scare the four dogs when they attacked the dog, a police spokesperson told NU.nl. That worked, after which the officers dived on the four dogs.
But that did not have the desired effect. The officers were unable to control the dogs. They then used a taser on one of the animals. In the end it was not possible to save the dog.
The owner of the four dogs, who also failed to control his animals, has been arrested. The dogs have been confiscated. After an investigation, the public prosecutor determines what will happen to the animals.
