Jan Kooijman will play the leading role in RIPOSTE, a short film about male victims of sexual abuse. Kooijman plays the role of a fencing master who abuses his student.
Producer Willy Waltz International reported this on Tuesday. “I think it is important that these stories are told, so that victims know that they are not alone,” says 42-year-old Kooijman about his role. The other leading role is for Diron Sterk, who previously appeared in the film, among others Stromboli.
Psychologist and actor Peter Oude Wesselink is involved in the plan for the film. He wrote the screenplay together with lyricist and screenwriter Mirjam Groen.
The makers want the film to pay more attention to the physical reactions to sexual violence. They hope, among other things, to remove prejudices, says the producer.
The direction is in the hands of Norbert ter Hall, known for projects such as A’dam – E.V.A., My life in The Promise of Pisa. The film’s shooting is scheduled for April.
