Audi has published the first photographs and technical details of the restyled version of the model.
This is a pre-premiere show, so the car appears in camouflage in the style of Audi racing cars, however, this disguise does not hide how the model’s appearance has changed. The car received a different front end with a new radiator grille and an emblem shifted to the top. The bumper and headlights have evolved.
The rear bumper has recesses on the sides with reflectors – these parts imitate air ducts. Also noteworthy are the new lights, a more aggressive diffuser and exhaust pipes with the logo of the famous company Akrapovic, specializing in sports exhaust.
Even though this is not a completely new model, but only a facelift, the changes in technology are significant. There is a modernized 2.0 TFSI engine that produces 333 hp. and 420 Nm, which is 23 hp. and 20 Nm more than before. Acceleration to 100 km/h now takes 4.7 seconds (was 4.8 seconds), top speed is still electronically limited to 250 km/h.
The engine is paired with a seven-speed S tronic transmission, which has become even faster. It is claimed that gear shift times during intense acceleration have been halved.
Perhaps the main innovation in terms of hardware is the appearance of the Torque Splitter system on the rear axle. Here, instead of the usual one clutch, there are individual clutches for the left and right wheels. The electronics can transfer up to 100% of the torque supplied to the rear axle to each of the rear wheels. Thus, the system controls the thrust vector and adds steering ability to the car. A similar solution was previously used on the extreme Audi RS 3.
More rigid elements appeared in the suspension, the brakes became larger (357 mm in front), the steering received different settings, and an even sportier Dynamic Plus was added among the driving modes.
Audi has not yet announced when the new product will be presented in full (without camouflage), but, apparently, there is not long left before the premiere.
