Actor and influencer Nicolas Caeyers (31) has been sentenced by the Leuven court to a deferred prison sentence of 1 year for the rape of two underage teenagers and the sexual assault of a third. “He used his name and fame to arouse curiosity among the boys,” the judge ruled
Nicolas Caeyers became known thanks to roles in the popular TV series Wittekerke and the Ketnet series Galaxy Park, but has been especially popular on Tiktok in recent years. At the end of last year he was prosecuted for sexual offenses with three minors. His youngest victim was thirteen when the offenses took place.
On Tuesday morning, the Leuven court pronounced its verdict in the case. “The defendant damaged the psychological integrity of the boys in view of his own sexual needs,” the judge said. “He used his name and fame to arouse curiosity among teenagers who were still searching for their own sexuality.”
The judge sees mitigating circumstances. “The psychological research has estimated that future transgressive behavior is low. There was a long lapse of time between the facts and he has received psychological guidance on his own initiative since 2018.”
The actor was sentenced to one year in prison, fully suspended. So he shouldn’t go to jail.
Snapchat and Instagram
Caeyers always worked in the same way when he contacted victims. He approached underage boys via the social media channels Snapchat and Instagram and tried to meet them. Some responded, including a boy of barely 13. Caeyers himself was 22 years old at the time. Those dates soon turned into sex. The victim felt coerced and raped and broke off contact. He remained silent for eight years, but last year the victim decided to file a complaint.
