Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, Elvis, Back to black… The biopics of figures in the history of music are now experiencing their best moment, and good proof of this is that this February 14 the artist’s film hits theaters around the world that everyone has sung at some point, but few really know: Bob Marley’s.
Bob Marley: One Love tells of some of the brightest stages of the reggae singer’s life; with contrasts as interesting as they were accurate to find out who was hiding behind the music that, to this day, continues to be part of the soundtrack of so many people’s lives. It stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, whom we have seen lately as a Barbie Ken and as a villain from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the legendary musician; and with Reinaldo Marcus Green – director of The Williams Method, a film that gave Will Smith his first and eventful Oscar – in the direction.
If you still have doubts about what to see at the movies, don’t worry. At LOS40 we have already been able to see this film, and we give you 5 reasons why you cannot miss it. Keep reading after the official trailer:
1. Know who Bob Marley is
Do you know where Bob Marley was from? His real name? Why did she have to leave his beloved Jamaica? What was the real reason for his death, beyond urban legends? All these questions are answered in Bob Marley: One Love, a film that has a protagonist that you surely know, but after watching it, you will realize that you still had a lot to discover.
2. A journey through Exodus
Beyond the life of Bob Marley, the framework on which the film focuses also tells in detail the singer’s working method. More specifically, how he devised, worked on and presented to the world his well-known Exodus, one of the most acclaimed albums of his career… And in the history of music, becoming considered the best album of the entire 20th century.
3. Mandatory for any music lover
And if Exodus isn’t enough for you, don’t worry: One Love also shows what the music industry was like in the 70s, where the rocker’s life was much more than getting on stage to give it his all. Marley, despite dedicating himself body and soul to reggae and seemed removed from this entire system, ended up going through it because of his worldwide fame, something that the film covers from beginning to end.

4. A historical document
Although not everything is musical. Bob’s life cannot be understood without politics, especially since he ended up being a key figure for the future of Jamaica. Although he lived for music, he was never oblivious to the world around him. A world that the film represents as the perfect setting for a life of lights and shadows like his was.
5. The perfect plan for Valentine’s Day
And if that were not enough, the premiere of this film comes in the middle of Valentine’s Day, so it automatically becomes the perfect proposal for a good date. What better than seeing one of the key figures of peace and love to have a good time as a couple, or even celebrating self-love? Accompanied by some good popcorn, Marley’s biopic is the best way to spend Valentine’s Day.
Bob Marley: One Love opens on February 14 exclusively in theaters.
