The 26-year-old man from Hoorn who was arrested on Sunday after the fatal accident on the A7 is suspected of driving under the influence. The police confirmed this to NU.nl after reporting NH News.
Two people were killed in the single-vehicle traffic accident near Noordbeemster on the night of Saturday to Sunday: a 19-year-old man from Wervershoof and a 27-year-old man from Hoorn.
The third occupant was a 26-year-old man from Hoorn. He was injured and was taken to hospital for a check-up after the accident. After a blood test, he was arrested by the police on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Additional investigation must reveal whether he was actually the driver, a spokesperson said. The suspect remains in custody pending the investigation.
