Cuban rappers Jorgito Kamankola and Aldo “Al2 El Aldeano” premiered their new collaboration, in which they harshly criticize the Cuban dictatorship and those who support it.
The new theme, Papayais a fusion of rap and timba that, in 5 minutes and 40 seconds, hits hard at the communist regime, and especially at those who support it while in Miami.
The song did little after its premiere on January 28, but it has been gaining fame on networks, being increasingly shared, and in just over a week it has already surpassed 139 thousand views on YouTube.
“Who saw you and who has seen you/Anti-imperialist at full voice/And in a painting the Antichrist/Of the hammer and the sickle/Red and black the flag/On the balcony of oblivion/It was the biggest candle-eater/And now it has the papaia in the United States,” reads part of the song.
Both in the YouTube video and in his social media publications, both the leader of La Cueva and Kamankola have received great support from the Cuban community in the diaspora, which supports their message and shares the contempt for the regime’s sympathizers.
“A tremendous theme was to be expected with these two monuments”; “The first thing I did was take a screenshot and upload it directly to my WhatsApp status. I loved this”; “Truth that convinces in every letter, in every phrase. “This is the truth we are looking for, without costumes or slogans,” were some of the comments.
The song, produced by Juny LB, had its video by director Junior Acuña, while the editing was by Ever Ryan, recognized for his career in the independent production of the rap movement in Cuba.
In statements to DNA AmericaJorgito expressed that the song was necessary to denounce the current situation, and the fact that there are people who, after having been part of the repressive system in Cuba, now enjoy a privileged life abroad.
According to the rapper, Papaya It is the result of the union of two artists with a solid anti-communist discourse, which is also inspired by the request of many of their followers.
Since his beginnings in music, Jorgito Kamankola has stood out for his special sound, a novel mix between the rhythm of traditional trova and rap. However, in recent years, he has also added to that sound more critical and direct lyrics that denounce the growing sociopolitical crisis in Cuba.
For his part, Aldo El Aldeano has been characterized by remaining opposed to the regime, and this would not be the first time that he criticizes those who support him, especially being far from the Island and enjoying the comforts of the free world, a dispute that has continued. with reggaeton artists like El Taiger and Chocolate MC.
