The Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Florida, revealed more details about the accident that occurred last Friday, February 9, on Interstate 75 (I-75), where a twin-engine plane caught fire after an emergency landing.

Among the information revealed by the authorities is the identity of the deceased and the names of the survivors who were traveling on the plane that was to land at the Naples airport.

The deceased were identified as pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, of Oakland Park, Florida, and co-pilot, Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, of Pompano Beach.

According to the media Telemundo 51, the survivors were Sydney Ann Bosmans, 23 years old, who was part of the plane’s crew and resides in Jupiter, Florida; Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23, both from Columbus, Ohio.

The latter were taken to a nearby hospital after the impact, where they received medical attention for the injuries they suffered during the accident.

The aforementioned media indicates that the pilot of the aircraft tried to make an emergency landing after suffering a breakdown in both engines, but when touching the lanes of I-75, the plane hit a vehicle on the ground, which caused a fire. .

The flight records of the aircraft indicate that it left Columbus, Ohio, and was headed to the Naples airport, after which it was scheduled to fly to the Fort Lauderdale airport.

The twin-engine Bombardier Challenger 604 aircraft was registered to Fort Lauderdale-based East Shore Aviation LLC and was being operated by charter company Hop-a-Jet.

According to the local press, the pilot managed to send an audio to air traffic control before the accident, stating that he had lost both engines and that it would not be possible for him to get to the airport.

Following the incident, lanes of the highway near Exit 105 were closed while firefighters dealt with the fire. Likewise, the authorities began to carry out the first investigations into the incident.

Now, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will be in charge of carrying out the investigation to determine the exact causes of the incident and clarify why the plane lost both engines.
