Las Vegas (dpa) – Mecole Hardman needed a moment. The 25-year-old became the Kansas City Chiefs’ big hero in the Super Bowl with his touchdown – and he didn’t even know what happened to him. The 25-year-old reported that he had a blackout after winning the National Football League final. “I forgot we won the game.”
In overtime, Hardman caught the decisive pass from superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes to make it 25:22 against the San Francisco 49ers. The game ended immediately with these points. Mahomes cheered and stormed towards his teammate – and surprised him. “He looked at me. He had no idea,” Mahomes reported with a smile. “I said, ‘Boy, we just won the Super Bowl. He had no idea. He didn’t even celebrate at the start.’
With the Vince Lombardi Trophy in hand for winning the NFL title, Hardman was aware of the magnitude of the moment. “Now it’s time to celebrate,” the wide receiver said.
