Indeed, the Central African reached this position thanks to a reform of the governance of the institutions of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) which imposes a rotating presidency on all key positions in community institutions.
The first country among the 6 Cemac countries (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo, Chad) to lead the BEAC thanks to this reform was Equatorial Guinea followed by Chad. Yvon Sana Bangui, has been an economist and BEAC executive for around twenty years.
