Alpine: Swenn Larsson’s first win of the season

She held the pressure.

After having the lead after the first run, Anna Swenn Larsson secured the victory, 35 hundredths ahead of the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic. The American Paula Moltzan was third.

It is Swenn Larsson’s second World Cup victory in her career and her first this season.

– It feels unreal. I am so happy, proud and grateful, says Swenn Larsson.

Back after a tough time

The 32-year-old’s form is like night and day compared to how it was earlier in the season. At the finish line, it was also apparent that she was very emotional.

– It was tough at the beginning of the season when I was 24th, 21st and so on. I wasn’t where I wanted to be and had a body that wasn’t with me. From being there I am very proud and happy to have come back.

When you were at a lower level at the beginning of the season, did you think then and there that you would be here today?

– Right then and there I didn’t think I would be standing here today, absolutely not. I was so far from that ride for so long. Then I had absolutely no idea that I would get back to where I am now, she says.

When SVT Sport talks to Swenn Larsson, she sits on the bus on her way from the mountains in Andorra to the sun in Barcelona.

– Then you fly home to Åre tomorrow. Now I get to enjoy the sun a bit before it gets home to the cold. I heard it was 30 degrees below zero…

The big talent impressed

Another who impressed was 18-year-old Cornelia Öhlund. The Swedish great talent lifted a full eleven places from his 25th place and finished as 14th rider, 2.02 seconds behind Swenn Larsson. It is Öhlund’s best World Cup result this season.

Sara Hector was eleventh and Hanna Aronsson Elfman finished in 17th place.
