How to Vote in the 2024 General Election Without an Invitation – Important Information for Indonesian Voters

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Voting for the 2024 General Election will be held simultaneously on Wednesday, February 14 2024. Voters whose names are recorded on the final voter list (DPT) will receive an invitation to vote or form C6.

However, if by voting day voters have not received an invitation to vote, can they still vote?

The answer is yes, as long as the voter’s name is registered at the polling station (TPS). To find out the TPS in question, voters can check via cekdptonline.kpu.go.id.

Voters simply enter their population identification number (NIK) on the site cekdptonline.kpu.go.id. If the name is registered on the DPT, the site will display the TPS where voters can vote.

“Check the DPT online since we updated the voter data, we have facilitated it for voters, to be able to see whether they have been registered or not in the DPT,” said Coordinator of the Data and Information Division of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) Betty Epsilon Idroos to Kompas.com, Sunday (11/2/2024).

“Well, now you can still use the online DPT check to check how many TPS we have in our DPT,” he continued.

Voters who do not receive an invitation to vote will still be served at the polling station where the voter is registered. The condition is that voters come with residence documents.

“You can still be served, bring your population documents, which show that my name is A, for example. “This is my e-KTP, it will be served by KPPS,” explained Betty.

As stated in the KPU Regulations (PKPU), Betty stated that the C6 form or invitation to vote should be submitted by the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) to voters no later than three days before the voting or Sunday, February 11 2024.

If the invitation has not arrived by the time specified, voters can ask the local RT head or RW head.

“Then, for example, if the invitation is not received, for example, when the KPPS comes to their house, the voter is working, going to the market, taking children with them, or the door can’t be opened at home, or for various other reasons, then the voter can go to the RT head or chairman. each RW,” explained Betty.

According to Betty, the RT head or RW head is usually a KPPS officer so that voters can directly ask or request the C6 notification form from them.

“Voters can ask, ‘Please ask for my (voting) notification letter’, for example,” continued Betty.

Currently, the 2024 election campaign stage is entering a calm period. Previously, a campaign period was held for 75 days, starting from 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024.

The election quiet period will last for three days, namely 11-13 February 2024. Furthermore, on 14 February 2024 simultaneous voting will be held throughout Indonesia.

Not only to elect the president and vice president, but also members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), People’s Representative Council (DPR), Provincial Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), and Regency/City DPRD.
