After the long-awaited meeting between AJ Auxerre and Angers SCO on February 10, 2024, the atmosphere quickly grew heavier. Two Auxerre ultras were taken into police custody after an incident that occurred on the sidelines of the match. Their involvement in a clash with Angevin supporters caused concern and triggered rapid police intervention.
A Group of Ultras from Auxerre Involved in the Incident
Two men, identified as active members of the Auxerre ultra group, were arrested following an act of violence that occurred after AJ Auxerre’s victory against Angers. They were part of a group of around forty people who targeted the bus carrying Angevin supporters. Witnesses report that projectiles were thrown in the direction of the vehicle, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Rapid intervention by law enforcement
The situation was quickly brought under control thanks to the intervention of the police present on site. Two police cars escorted the Angevin supporters’ bus and were able to intervene effectively to put an end to the confrontation. The two individuals involved in the incident were apprehended and taken into custody.
Suspect Profile
The two Auxerre ultras in police custody were identified as a 36-year-old man living in Pourrain, as well as a 19-year-old from Charleroi, Belgium. They are both suspected of involvement in a gathering with a view to committing an offense, and their detention in police custody will allow the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident which occurred after the match.
