Dominic Amacher: The FDP parliamentary group supports the project in principle and is currently unanimously approving the local council’s proposal.

Nau.ch: What changes do you welcome and what points do you disagree with?
Amacher: It is a very complex and unavoidable construction project. We have the impression that the project planning was planned well in advance and that the concerns of the four building owners were seriously taken into account. All road users are taken into account in the project and safety aspects are improved.
The implementation takes place according to today’s building standards. However, in our opinion, the advantages and disadvantages of motorized individual transport are not described enough. It is not conclusively clear what consequences it will have if the tram is newly integrated into mixed traffic in the city direction. We are not entirely sure on what basis the statement is made that capacity can be maintained thanks to intelligent traffic signals.

We are also critical of the misjudgment in the financial plan. We expect the local council and administration to provide the appropriate analysis and conclusions for the future.
Nau.ch: How do the costs of around 3.4 million francs fit into the budget of the municipality of Köniz?
Amacher: I would like to refer you to the parliamentary proposal. The amounts for each year are listed there.
Nau.ch: What restrictions must residents expect during the construction phase?
Amacher: I would also refer you to the parliamentary documents on this question. Such projects are always complex to implement. This will include material logistics, traffic restrictions and diversions. But this is also normal for complex construction sites, especially in such exposed areas.
There will be intensive construction phases, which will be a challenge for everyone involved, including the residents. Professionals who have the necessary experience with these framework conditions will be at work for the implementation. Tolerance is needed from everyone, even if the situation will not always be easy. I would therefore like to thank the residents today for their understanding.

Amacher: As already mentioned, the advantages and disadvantages for motorized individual transport are currently not described enough. The exact consequences of the new tram management are not yet entirely clear to us.

Amacher: Various measures are planned, including, for example, intelligent traffic signals. But at the moment it is an announcement on paper.
