Fogging at Class IIB Klungkung State Detention Center to Prevent Dengue Fever Spread

02-11-2024 – Class IIB Klungkung State Detention Center — KANWIL MINISTRY OF LAW AND HAM RI BALI

Semarapura, INFO_PAS – In order to prevent the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD), the Class II B Klungkung State Detention Center (Rutan) was obtained Fogging or Fumigation in the area around the Klungkung Detention Center carried out by the Klungkung District Health Service, Sunday (11/02).

This activity started at 06.00 WITA under direct supervision by the Watch Commander. Fogging or fumigation is the act of fumigation with insecticides which aims to kill mosquitoes, especially carriers (vectors) of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

Fogging can indeed be done to control dengue fever transmission, but it must be accompanied by other measures because this measure is only effective on adult mosquitoes. It is hoped that proper fogging can maximize the eradication of dengue mosquitoes (vectors) and minimize negative impacts, both in the form of immunity (resistance) from vectors, remaining insecticide residues in the environment, poisoning and others.

“This activity is very useful and can help prevent the spread of dengue fever around the Klungkung detention center. This action only kills adult mosquitoes, not mosquito larvae, eggs or larvae, so we also need to take mitigation steps to prevent egg larvae or mosquito larvae from developing. One way is to always clean the environment in the Klungkung Detention Center, especially those where there are standing water such as fish ponds. “Inmates’ gutters and bathtubs are sprinkled with Abate Powder so that it can kill mosquito larvae and larvae that cause dengue fever,” added the Watch Commander, Artana.
