For the first time in its history the Fiat Panda changes its name, becoming Pandina. The current generation of the small car will soon be updated with the 2024 model year, which in addition to introducing the new name will bring some technological innovations to the range that will accompany the five-door for the next three years: its exit from the scene is scheduled for 2026 In July, then, the Pandina – whose name was made official directly by Fiat – will be joined by the new Panda (called Grande Panda or Pandona among experts to distinguish it from its sister) which will debut in an electric guise, and then evolve with hybrid versions.
The Panda splits into two. The Fiat Pandina will be an evolution of the current model and, therefore, will be produced in Italy, in the Pomigliano d’Arco plant which has produced every single example of the 319 project since 2012. It should therefore be confirmed as the only engine currently present in the range , the 70 HP 1.0 Hybrid combined with a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. The electric Panda, however, will be born in Serbia (in the Kragujevac plant) on the Smart Car platform of the Stellantis group, brought to its debut by the Citroën ë-C3 (which, instead, is built in the Trnava factory, in the Czech Republic). Like the French one, the Grande Panda should grow in size, approaching 4 meters in length, thus exceeding the B segment. At the basis of the project is a 44 kWh battery that powers a 113 HP front electric motor, for a 0 -100 in approximately 11 seconds and 135 km/h top speed. Prices, however, should be around 23 thousand euros, but in the future a version of the electric Panda should arrive with a smaller battery and prices that will drop below 20 thousand euros. And which will be further reduced with the arrival of the hybrid versions.
