Interim President of the Tehreek-e-Insaf Party, Gohar Ali Khan, announced that his party will seek to form the next government in the country as the largest party in the number of parliamentary seats it has won.
According to the latest official results at the last hour of Saturday local time in Pakistan, which were announced by the General Election Commission (on its official website), the independents – most of whom are believed to be affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Insaf party – won 102 seats, leading all the forces competing to obtain the vote. He added that he was confident that his party would have the majority in the Punjab province (the largest Pakistani province), and that his supporters swept the elections in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Regarding the announcement of the loss of many of those affiliated with the party in the elections, he explained in an interview with Al Jazeera that he will go to the courts to decide on the matter, indicating his confidence that the ruling will be in favor of his supporters due to the presence of evidence of mass fraud, including video clips of the counting operations in the city of Karachi ( Major cities in Pakistan) for candidates to stamp the ballot papers themselves.
In a related context, People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced that his party will seek alliances with other forces to form the next government of Pakistan. Earlier on Saturday, Pakistani Army Commander General Asim Munir called on the country’s politicians to “break with the politics of chaos.”
His statement – seen by Al Jazeera Net – quoted the Army Commander as saying, “Since the people of Pakistan have placed their trust in the Pakistani Constitution, all political parties must now do the same by demonstrating political maturity and unity.”

The Foreign Ministry confirmed that the elections were held properly and successfully, despite security threats in limited areas that were dealt with in an appropriate manner.
She pointed out that there was no nationwide internet shutdown, but only mobile phone services were suspended during election day to avoid terrorist incidents.
For its part, the Pakistani Election Oversight Commission (independent) said that approximately 60 million out of more than 128 million registered voters cast their votes in the ballot boxes on Thursday, and the official figure for the number of participants has not yet been issued.
