Miss Snusk is halfway through her press day. Despite that, the energy doesn’t seem to wane. She often laughs behind her now well-known pink Louis Vuitton balaclava when DN meets her in a conference room at Warner’s office in central Stockholm.
Taking part in Sweden’s biggest music competition is a dream she has had since she was little. It was she herself who urged her management to register her for the competition.
– It feels great fun. Melodifestivalen is the fattest program if you make music. I want to show what I stand for, she says.
– But it’s very nerve-wracking. As soon as I think about it, my stomach hurts. I know I’m clumsy as a person. That I throw up, fall off the stage or sing falsely – anything can happen.
She will have to dance, learn choreography and get everything in sync with her dancers.
– I have not had a number in the same way before. I’ve freestyled on stage before, but now I have to remember things.

Miss Snusk and hers epadunk made a big splash on Tiktok in the fall of 2022 with the song “Ride me like a dala horse”. Behind the song was her gun bearer Rasmus Gozzi. The duo has followed up with a series of other hit songs about sex, cars and partying, but in Melodifestivalen she collaborates with songwriter Sara Ryan instead.
– I wanted to do this Mello dream myself. It felt like the next step for me. And I was paired with Sara Ryan, who is extremely talented. We’ve done this together. I’m not a songwriter by nature, but it’s been educational.
It can feel like a stark contrast – Ms. Snusk’s heavy bass and rough lyrics in Sweden’s by far the most popular music competition. And she has received certain guidelines from SVT to follow, which makes “Young & Free” somewhat different from her more unfiltered hit songs.
– We have known from the start that the song must not contain anything about sex. So it differs textually. It’s tidier but it’s the same part of the song. It will still be very “Missy”.

Do you feel any concern that your anti-establishment aura will disappear when you are now in Melodifestivalen?
– I really don’t think so. What we have on Spotify and what I do is so mixed. I can be very controversial in my lyrics and the way I move. But then there are also songs that are just fun, lovely and beautiful.
The mask is on throughout our interview and despite attempts, she does not want to confirm her identity. She says that she gets questions on the topic every day, but she keeps tight to her anonymity. When asked if she had entered the competition if it also meant telling who she is, she gives a definite answer:
– No, I didn’t have that. Then it wouldn’t have been Miss who was in Melodifestivalen.
Have you made demands on SVT that it should be like that?
– I have stated my guidelines, that I want to wear a mask and be secretive. We have talked a lot back and forth and come to an agreement.
“I hope it goes well because I can get very angry,” says Miss Snusk. Photo: Lars Lindqvist
Miss Snusk’s upload before Saturday’s competition has been about a lot other than the Melodifestivalen, and ultimately her participation has been questioned. This after several of her and Rasmus Gozzi’s songs were taken down from Spotify at the beginning of the year due to suspected manipulation of the number of streams, something she has previously firmly denied knowledge of. In addition to that, Ljungby municipality has filed a police report after snus was sold without a permit at a Miss Snusk concert. On February 4, her music, including the hit “Ride me like a valley horse” with its 70 million streams, was back on Spotify.
Now all eyes are on Saturday night’s debut.
– The funnest experience is just being there. And show who I am and what I stand for.
And the biggest challenge?
– That I’m a bad loser, she says and laughs:
– I hope it goes well because I can get very angry. It may happen that I just leave the room without saying a word.
Melodifestivalen is broadcast on SVT1 and SVT Play on Saturdays at 8pm.
