Grammy-Winning Musician Jacob Collier to Perform at Tartu Song Festival – European Capital of Culture 2024

One of the most innovative musicians of his generation – award-winning singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier with the vocal jazz ensemble “Take 6” will perform on the stage of the Tartu Song Festival on July 18.

The event will take place within the “European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024” series, organized by “Jazzkaar”. “After the release of Collier’s debut album “In My Room” in 2016, we wanted to invite the super-talented artist to “Jazzkaar” – unfortunately it didn’t work out then. The greater the joy of being able to introduce Kolyer’s many fans in the Baltics to him in person now that Tartu, a university city with a respectable history and the real artery of Estonian cultural life, is the capital of European culture,” says Anne Erma, the artistic director of “Jazzkaar”.

The 29-year-old multi-talent Jacob Collier, who works in London, has been named by many prestigious music publications as the most innovative musician of his generation – his works include both pop, jazz and classical music. “Collier’s unique sound language and audio solutions inspire many, as well as fascinate listeners of all ages,” says Kati Torpa, the creative director of the “European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024”. “He is especially known in the world for his very energetic, exciting concerts, in which he turns the audience into a huge multi-voice choir. We believe that Kolyer will also turn the audience into a big chorus at the Tartu Song Festival stage.”

It should be reminded that the musician won two Grammy awards for his debut album “In My Room”. Jacob Collier has collaborated with famous artists such as Coldplay, John Mayer, Ty Dolla $ign, Tori Kelly, Daniel Caesar, SZA and many more. In 2018, Collier started recording his four-part album “Djesse” with more than 50 songs. Each installment focuses on a different style of music, and each of the four albums released to date has won a Grammy, making him the only British composer to win the prestigious turntable for each of his first three records. The musician plans to release the fourth part of “Djesse” in February this year.
