Kasselakis: He got on a tractor and visited the site of the Tempi tragedy

The president of SYRIZA PS Stefanos Kasselakis was recently in the Central Square of Larissa, where farmers of the area are with their tractors. Earlier, at the start of the 2nd Regional Congress of Thessaly, a minute’s silence was observed for the victims of Tempe and the devastating floods.

Stefanos Kasselakis emphasized, speaking to the president of the United Federation of Agricultural Associations of Larissa Prefecture, Mr. Rizo Marouda, that they must claim and demand the abolition of the Special Consumption Tax, as he said “it is not possible to wait a lifetime for a return. You owe no one thanks.”

He also got on two tractors and talked to farmers about their problems.

During the Conference and referring to the agricultural issue, Mr. Kasselakis said: “The farmers whom I have met many times in the last week, and yesterday here in the Region, are experiencing a huge injustice. They sell products below their cost of production. They can’t even meet the government without conditions, extortionate conditions put on them.”

He added that, “the proposals we have submitted for our farmers, for our breeders are absolutely fair, costed. And it’s time for the government, instead of giving crumbs and buying time, to finally adopt the obvious.”

A promise of justice in the Tempe tragedy

Before arriving at the central square of Larissa, Stefanos Kasselakis left a flower and a promise at the site of the Tempe tragedy.

The promise, as he mentions in his post, that we will fight with all our strength for justice to be served.

While he also referred to the work of Giorgos Koftis with the nails, saying that these nails are “nails in the heart of our country”.

In detail what he wrote in his post:

“Tempe. Here where time froze.

Here where some want to convince us that 57 of our fellow citizens were led to death because of the evil of the time and not the evil of the country.

I left a flower and a promise to the victims and their relatives and friends that they will not be forgotten.
We will fight with all our strength so that real justice is served. Difficult fight against a regime that pours cement on the wound.

The promise that we will never forget is reflected in the work of Giorgos Koftis, which is located next to the crime scene of Tempi.

These nails are nailed in the heart of our country”.
