The Spaniard will make his comeback after the short break since Brisbane, where Rafael Nadal was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Jordan Thompson, in Doha in a few days. After that there are bigger tasks ahead. Like the start at the Tennis Paradise in Indian Wells. Which suits the clay court lover in that, according to hard court specialist Daniil Medvedev, it’s like playing on clay anyway.
In his last appearance in the desert, Nadal reached the final, but was somewhat surprisingly beaten by Taylor Fritz. Three years before that he was unable to compete in his semi-final against Roger Federer.
Nevertheless, Nadal has already won three titles in Indian Wells: in 2013 he beat Juan Martin del Potro in the final, and in 2009 he gave Andy Murray no chance. And in 2007, Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic 6:2 and 7:5 in the final.
