President Javier Milei is considering traveling to Washington to participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where he would meet with US presidential candidate Donald Trump.

CPAC is the most important annual meeting of the North American right and the former North American head of state, who has a good chance of returning to the White House, is one of the confirmed speakers and will be the central protagonist of it.

When could Javier Milei and Donald Trump meet?

Milei’s trip is not yet defined and will depend on her schedule, since the Conference takes place this year between February 21 and 24. As indicated by his entourage to different media, the President would be one of the central guests, but they clarified that he has not yet confirmed his attendance because he has commitments in Argentina.

In any case, it turned out that Milei would like to attend to speak at the forum, while he would also have his photo with Trump: “It is an event in which the liberals of the world come together and they just coincide on the day they present,” say sources close to the president.

This conference is organized every year in the American capital and is attended by leaders of the country’s right and special international guests, who define this meeting as “the largest and most influential meeting of conservatives in the world.”

CPAC was inaugurated in 1974 and the first star speaker was Ronald Reagan. In addition to Trump, this year Representative Elise Stefanik (who sounds like a possible vice president of the magnate) participates; businessman and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy; former Housing Secretary Ben Carson; former Trump adviser Steve Bannon; representative Jim Jordan and the British Nigel Farage, former leader of the Brexit movement, among others.

The president is considering attending the Conference, but does not want to get into trouble with Joe Biden.

Milei’s affinity with Trump and the United States

It is well known that Milei feels a great ideological and stylistic affinity with Trump, who, in turn, highlighted the libertarian’s reformist thought and ideas and compared it to his MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement.

Besides, Milei said that the United States will be a key partner for Argentina just like Israelbut a trip by the libertarian to Washington for an event where he will meet with Joe Biden’s main rival in the November 5 elections could be somewhat uncomfortable.

It is not in Argentina’s interest to have disagreements in the relationship because it needs the support of the US government for any decision that must be adopted in the International Monetary Fund, since the United States is the main shareholder of the organization and the one with the greatest voting power.

In any case, those around him indicated that the trip and the meeting with Trump “does not complicate the relationship with Biden because it is not that he is going to a bilateral meeting with Trump but rather it is in a different area.”
