Police identified the teenager involved as “extremely dangerous.”

New York police are searching for a 15-year-old boy suspected of fatally shooting a Brazilian tourist in the leg at a Times Square sports store. Then, he allegedly shot twice at a police officer who was chasing him in the streets of the city center before taking refuge in the metro.

Police identified the teen as a resident of a migrant shelter in Manhattan who arrived in New York from Venezuela late last year. He is also considered a suspect in an armed robbery in the Bronx and another shooting in Times Square last month, police said.

“The current priority of the city, its police services and our federal partners is to put this man out of harm’s way”said John Chell, chief of patrol for the New York Police Department, at a press conference Friday afternoon, calling the teenager a“extremely dangerous”.
