Alvar Myhlback’s huge success – takes gold in JVM | Cross country skis

Alvar Myhlback is one of skiing’s most recognizable talents and has made headlines for his rapid progress.

Only 17 years old, he has already made his World Cup debut – and he is now making his debut at the Junior World Cup, where he is one of the youngest participants with two years to spare.

In Friday’s individual start of 10 kilometers in classic style, Myhlback showed that age does not matter.

– It’s so nice to see him get this chance. Really, really good, says SVT’s expert Anders Blomquist.

– This is a guy in his own division, then the others settle for the other medals.

In the end, Myhlback crossed the finish line 52 seconds ahead of runner-up Isai Naeff from Switzerland.

– He has outclassed everyone else, says SVT’s expert Jacob Hård.

The gold was Sweden’s second on this day. Evelina Crüsell, 19, took home the victory on the women’s side at the same distance.

Myhlback himself was overjoyed after the victory.

– It felt incredibly good today. I already felt when I woke up that everything was just going my way all day. I don’t know what to say, I’m so happy, he says in SVT.
