Whoever aspires to study the Doctorate in Education must have the following skills:
Comprehension of academic texts: You must have the ability to understand and assimilate academic texts in fields such as social sciences, cognitive sciences, information technologies and, in particular, in the field of education with technological intervention.
Writing essays following academic standards: You must show the ability to write essays in accordance with basic academic rules, including information management, citation of references (APA latest edition) and argumentation skills.
Interest in areas outside of your previous training: The explicit desire to explore additional and different fields from those of their previous training, such as education, information technologies, governance, inclusion, research, among others.
Reading comprehension in a foreign language: You must have the ability to understand texts in a foreign language, at least English (500 TOEFL or equivalent).
Promotion of critical and creative thinking: You must have an interest in developing critical and creative thinking through scientific research.
Ability to work in team: The ability to collaborate effectively in teamwork environments.
Use of technology as a work tool: Knowledge and use of various tools for creating teaching and learning material, as well as online work platforms.
Self-regulation, self-learning and effective time management skills: The applicant must work autonomously, so they must have the appropriate skills to do so, and time to develop academically.
Admission requirements:
To enter the Technological Institute of Sonora to carry out studies in the Doctorate in Education, the following are required:
Master’s degree: Candidates must have a master’s degree in a field related to the Postgraduate research lines.
Relevant educational experience: Professional experience in the educational field is required, for example, in positions of responsibility such as school director, educational supervisor, educational evaluator or teacher with significant experience, consultant, or trainer, among others.
Knowledge of the English language: accreditation of the reading level of English language comprehension (TOEFL 500 points or equivalent).
Research proposal: Candidates will be required to submit a research proposal that demonstrates their ability to raise relevant and viable research questions in the field of education.
Recommendation letters: Two letters of recommendation are required from academics or professionals who support the candidate’s ability to conduct research and who can contribute to the field of education.
Interview: You must attend an interview as part of the selection process to assess the candidate’s suitability and motivation.
Admission Test: take an admission exam that evaluates knowledge in relevant areas of education.
