Donyell Malen gave Borussia Dortmund three points on Friday evening in the home match against SC Freiburg: 3-0. The Dutch attacker scored the first two goals.
Dortmund, who will face PSV in the Champions League in eleven days, will be equal on points with number three VfB Stuttgart, which will play Mainz 05 on Sunday.

Malen was the star performer for Dortmund on Friday evening, although his first attempt at goal ended with a bicycle kick.
The highlight was his first goal sixteen minutes into the match. On a pass from Niclas Füllkrug, Malen broke free between several defenders and shot unrelentingly into the top corner, 1-0.
During the long injury time before half-time, the assist again came from Füllkrug and Malen shot low into the far corner.
Tennis balls and chocolate coins
A lot of time was added because the game had been stopped for ten minutes when supporters protested against the entry of an investor in the DFL, the organizer of the two top divisions. In addition to displaying banners, fans threw tennis balls and chocolate coins onto the court.
German fans have been protesting for months against a plan by the DFL, in which an investor pays one billion euros in exchange for about eight percent of the revenue from the marketing rights, with a term of 20 years.
The supporters fear that this will “throw the unique character of German football overboard”.

Malen gave a perfect cross to Marco Reus, but the German’s header was catfished out of the intersection by Freiburg keeper Noah Atubolu. Moments later, Ian Maatsen hit the outside of the post.
Ultimately the score was 3-0 three minutes before time. Füllkrug celebrated his 31st birthday with a goal from a cross from Maatsen.
