Hezbollah Targets Israeli Military Barracks and Spy Devices in Border Areas with Dozens of Missiles

Today, Friday, Lebanese Hezbollah announced that it had targeted an Israeli military barracks in the occupied Syrian Golan with dozens of missiles, in addition to bombing Israeli sites and spy devices in border areas, causing “direct hits” in them.

This is the first time that Hezbollah has launched missile strikes from Lebanon against Israeli sites inside the occupied Syrian Golan, since the eighth of last October.

The party said – in a statement – that its fighters “targeted, at 5:50 pm (Beirut time), the Kila barracks of the Israeli army in the occupied Syrian Golan with dozens of Katyusha rockets.”

He pointed out that targeting the Israeli barracks came “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honorable resistance.”

Missiles and interceptions

Al Jazeera’s correspondent said that 20 missiles were launched from Lebanon towards Israeli positions in the Galilee Finger, noting that a series of missiles were monitored from Lebanon and Iron Dome intercepted them in the skies of the Upper Galilee and the occupied Golan.

The Israeli army confirmed – in a statement – “it monitored dozens of launches from Lebanese territory towards the Golan Heights area, where air defense fighters succeeded in intercepting many of the launches, and there were no casualties.”

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said that the missiles targeted a military base in the northern Golan Heights, without the army confirming this information.

The army indicated that “warning sirens were activated in the Kiryat Shmona area and the surrounding area (near the border with Lebanon) due to missile fragments during their interception.”

He added, “After sounding the sirens in the northern region, the Israeli army identified one of Hezbollah’s rocket launchers, in the Duba Castle area in southern Lebanon, and destroyed it.”

Spy equipment

On the other hand, Hezbollah said in three successive statements that its fighters “targeted the Zibdin site, in the occupied Lebanese Shebaa Farms, with missile weapons and hit it directly.”

He added that his fighters also targeted “the spy equipment at the Ramtha site, in the occupied Shebaa Farms, and in the vicinity of the Malikiyah site, with appropriate weapons, and caused direct hits.”

Earlier Friday, the official Lebanese News Agency reported, “Israeli warplanes launched an air attack on the vicinity of Ali Al-Taher Hill, opposite the town of Kafr Tibnit (more than 15 kilometers from the southern border).”

Israeli warplanes also carried out a raid on the Hamoul area, in the town of Naqoura in southern Lebanon, according to the agency.

She pointed out that “the outskirts of the town of Aitaroun, in the Bint Jbeil District (south), were subjected to intermittent artillery shelling coming from Israeli enemy positions installed inside the occupied Palestinian territories.”

30 missiles

The Israeli army had previously announced that about 30 missiles were fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel, hours after a Hezbollah military leader was seriously injured in an Israeli air strike that targeted his car.

An Israeli army spokesman said, “We can confirm that about 30 missiles were fired from Lebanon towards the Ein Zeitim and Dalton areas in northern Israel.”

He added that this bombing “did not result in any human casualties,” according to preliminary information.

This bombing came shortly after the Israeli army confirmed that it launched an air strike in southern Lebanon on Thursday, targeting a “leader” in Hezbollah.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli-Lebanese border has witnessed, since last October 8, a devastating war in the Gaza Strip, bombing and exchanges of fire between the Israeli army on the one hand and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions on the other hand, which led to deaths and injuries on both sides of the border.
