STEP Early detection of uterine cancer was promoted directly by the Modopuro Community Health Center UPT in the free IVA Test Festival.
This activity, which was carried out from Monday (5/2) to Saturday (10/2), was a form of improving the health status of women of childbearing age as well as celebrating World Cervical Cancer Day.
Head of the Modopuro Community Health Center, Edi Gandiriyanto, said that the IVA test was carried out on mothers of childbearing age who had had sexual intercourse. At the same time, a Sadanis examination or clinical breast examination is held.
”IVA Test is one way to test for cervical cancer. “This cancer is a malignant tumor in the cervix, and can spread to other organs and can cause death,” he said.
He explained that this disease is caused by the HPV Virus or Human Papilloma Virus which is transmitted through sexual contact.
”Women who have a higher risk of suffering from cervical cancer include sexual activity before the age of 20, changing sexual partners, exposure to sexually transmitted infections (STIs),” he explained.
Through simple tests such as the IVA Test, cervical cancer can be prevented. The examination involves applying vinegar to the cervix to detect the presence of abnormal cells on the cervix.
Early abnormalities or diseases or pre-cancerous lesions can be detected using pap smears and IVA tests. Those recommended for the IVA test are women aged 30-50 years, who have had sexual relations. “The IVA test can be carried out at midwives or doctors, health centers and hospitals,” he said.
