Jakarta –
A funny moment happened to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, during an interview with journalists. Joe Biden was wrong and wrong to call the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi as President of Mexico.
Reported by CNN, Friday (9/2/2024), the misstatement occurred when Biden answered journalists’ questions about hostage negotiations and humanitarian assistance in the Gaza Strip.
Biden said he had spoken to Egyptian President Sisi about opening the border gates to allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. However, Biden mistakenly called the President of Egypt Mexico.
“At first, the President of Mexico — Sisi — didn’t want to open the door for humanitarian aid to come in. I talked to him. I convinced him to open the gate. I talked to Bibi to open the gate on the Israeli side,” Biden said.
For your information, Mexico is led by a President named Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Meanwhile, Abdul Fattah el-Sisi is the President of Egypt who was re-elected in 2023.
Returning to Biden, he admitted that he was trying hard to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. Because many innocent people are starving, and according to him it must be stopped.
“I have tried very hard to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza. There are many innocent people who are starving. Many innocent people are in trouble and dying. And it has to stop,” he continued.
Biden also said he was ‘trying hard to address this hostage ceasefire’.
If an initial ceasefire is possible, Biden said, “I think we will be able to extend the delay so that we can increase the likelihood that the fighting in Gaza will turn around. There are other negotiations as well,” Biden said.
