Nick Cave has created the soundtrack for the film about the life of Amy Winehouse. The Australian artist collaborated with his regular musical partner Warren Ellis.
Although a large part of the soundtrack consists of songs by the singer herself, other film music was also needed. Director Sam Taylor-Wood is happy that she managed to get Cave and Ellis. “Nick and Warren were the only musicians I had in mind for the music for Back to Black.”
“Over the years I have listened to everything they have composed and I couldn’t wait to collaborate with them. Their sensitivity and knowledge of this story has created a profound and moving soundtrack.”
Cave and Ellis have previously created soundtracks together. So they were responsible for the music of Blondea film about Marilyn Monroe.
The biopic about Winehouse will be in cinemas from April. Marisa Abela stars in the lead role Back to Black. The film is named after the singer’s award-winning album.
