Disillusionment, incomprehension… Beyond the failure to recognize the specificities of Corsica, the announcements made by Health Insurance on the increase in consultation prices did not satisfy the doctors’ unions. *”*The conditions allowing them to increase to €30 are strict and the objectives are high.according to doctors who called on their union to refuse the agreement. On the island, the collective of liberal doctors (ML Corsica) has the feeling of having been doubly fooled. No increase in prices and therefore no recognition of insularity.

“Our feeling is shock and anger”
“We just received two slaps in the face”indicated Dr Cyrille Brunel, spokesperson for this collective which brings together 500 practitioners. “Our feeling is shock and anger. An anger that still fuels our determination”he added, guest of the editorial staff of France Bleu RCFM this Friday, February 9.
“We were asked to take part in a process trying to demonstrate the specificities of medicine in Corsica. They have been recognized across disciplines. But this did not materialize at the convention. We have the impression that Corsica and its patients were invited to a sort of idiots’ dinner for 4 months“.
The option of unconventionality on the table
Practitioners threaten to use a radical weapon. A seminar on unconventionality is announced for the month of March in Bastia. This involves explaining how to use this change in framework for general practitioners. 70 of them would already be leaving, some are waiting for details, others have decided to reorient themselves, either for early retirement, or for another more profitable and less restrictive form of medicine such as aesthetics.
It’s not all over yet, but “it will be difficult to have the status of mountain island recognized by Health Insurance”confided another doctor. The ML Corsica collective is now awaiting the support of parliamentarians “so that the CNAM realizes that there is water around the Corsican mountains and that this deserves to be recognized”.
