In the Karlskrona swimming hall, there is today a large 25-meter pool and a smaller children’s pool. Underneath the children’s pool is a so-called equalization tank that balances the amount of water in the two pools. The equalization tank is an approximately 30-year-old construction that now needs to be renovated. The work involves demolishing the children’s pool and casting a new tank and pool in the same place. At the same time, the treatment plants are also being replaced.
The equalization tank regulates the amount of water in both basins. During the renovation, the swimming pool will therefore be completely closed. The hope is that the work will take about six months. During that time, accessibility to the Rödeby swimming pool and outdoor pool will be expanded both for the public and for many of the businesses that rent times in the Karlskrona swimming pool today.
The plan is for the work to begin around May 1, 2024, that is, approximately at the time when Rödeby’s outdoor swimming pool can be opened at the earliest. The hope is then to be able to have Rödeby outdoor pool open longer than usual into the autumn.
