Progress on Neom’s The Line, Oxagon Port, and Sindalah Resort Revealed in Aerial Images
Aerial images have recently surfaced, showcasing the progress being made on the ambitious Neom project in Saudi Arabia. These images, shared by Giles Pendleton, the Chief Operating Officer of The Line, provide a glimpse into the construction of The Line megacity, Oxagon port, and Sindalah resort.
The Line, a groundbreaking megacity that is set to stretch an impressive 170 kilometers across the country, is depicted in the aerial photos taken from a helicopter. These images reveal the ongoing excavations and groundwork being carried out for this controversial project. Pendleton’s post on LinkedIn, titled “Neom is real,” emphasizes that these images serve as proof that the project is moving forward despite the skeptics.
In addition to The Line, the aerial shots also capture the progress made at Sindalah resort and Oxagon development. The Sindalah resort, situated on an island in the Red Sea, appears to be nearing completion. The majority of hotel buildings have been constructed, showcasing the luxurious design by Italian studio Luca Dini Design and Architecture. Neom has announced that Sindalah will open its doors to guests in early 2024, making it the first region of Neom to be completed.
The images of The Line site depict vast stretches of desert transformed into a construction site. The groundwork and structures built to accommodate workers on the project are clearly visible, highlighting the scale and ambition of this endeavor. Oxagon, designed by Danish studio BIG, is showcased in Pendleton’s photographs as well. The development of the existing port on the Red Sea is progressing steadily.
Neom is not without its controversies. As one of the world’s largest and most ambitious developments, it has faced criticism on various fronts. Human rights organizations, such as ALQST, have raised concerns about forced evictions and reported that three men were sentenced to death after being forcibly removed from the Neom site. Last year, the UN Human Rights Council expressed alarm over the imminent executions, prompting Saudi Arabia to deny any wrongdoing.
Despite these controversies, the aerial images shared by Giles Pendleton provide a captivating glimpse into the progress being made on Neom’s The Line, Oxagon Port, and Sindalah Resort. These images serve as a testament to the scale and ambition of the project, showcasing the transformation of vast desert landscapes into futuristic developments. As Neom continues to push forward, it remains a project that captivates both supporters and skeptics alike.
