Armando Benedetti is now officially the Colombian ambassador to the FAO based in Rome, Italy. The Barranquilla native took office before the Colombian ambassador to Italy, Ligia Margarita Quessep.
The formal act occurred hours after the Foreign Minister of Colombia, Álvaro Leyva, who signed his appointment decree, accepted the provisional suspension against him by the Attorney General’s Office due to the passport scandal.
I thank the president @petrogustavo his appointment as Ambassador of Colombia to the @FAO. Food, agrarian reform and agriculture are fundamental issues in the Government’s policies that do not allow minor efforts and that impose great challenges. pic.twitter.com/8A9g7DAn2j

“I thank President Gustavo Petrosu designation as Ambassador of Colombia to the FAO. “Food, agrarian reform and agriculture are fundamental issues in the Government’s policies that do not allow minor efforts and that impose great challenges.”Benedetti explained in his X account.
The possession of the former Colombian ambassador in Venezuela generates noise among different political sectors because the former senator was key during Gustavo Petro’s campaign and knows the true secrets of financing. However, he has remained silent and has not testified before the authorities.
