Kim Tae-ho Announces Candidacy for Yangsan in 22nd General Election Press Conference

Kim Tae-ho, a member of the People Power Party’s Sancheong, Hamyang, Geochang, and Hapcheon counties in Gyeongsangnam-do, is holding a press conference announcing his candidacy for Yangsan in the 22nd general election at the National Assembly Communication Hall in Yeouido, Seoul on the 8th. 2024.2.8/News 1

Kim Tae-ho, a three-term member of the People Power Party (Sancheong, Hamyang, Geochang, Hapcheon, Gyeongsangnam-do), accepted the party’s request to run for Yangsan-eul in the April 10 general election on the 8th and officially declared his candidacy.

Rep. Kim held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Center this morning and said, “My heart is heavy and I feel a heavy sense of responsibility,” and “I will humbly accept the party’s request to make the Nakdong River Belt a bridgehead for victory in the general election.”

Previously, the People Power Party leadership and the Nomination Management Committee asked senior members of the party to run for office in the rough areas of the ‘Nakdong River Belt’, the constituency where the opposition party dominates. The day before, 5-term lawmaker Seo Byeong-soo declared that he would run for the Bukgangseo-gap district in Busan, and 3-term lawmaker Jo Hae-jin was also asked to run for the Gimhae-gap or Gimhae-eul regions.

The Nakdong River Belt, which refers to Seobu Mountain and Gimhae and Yangsan in Gyeongsangnam-do, is comprised of Democratic Party members including 3rd-elected Min Hong-cheol (Gimhae-gap), re-elected Kim Doo-gwan (Yangsan-eul), Kim Jeong-ho (Gimhae-eul), Jeon Jae-soo (Bukgang Seo-gap), and Choi In-ho (Busan Saha-gap). There are many active members of the National Assembly.

Rep. Kim said, “Actually, not long ago, I told voters in my hometown that I would protect my hometown and dedicate myself to regional development,” and added, “But the reality the party is facing is so desperate that I couldn’t turn away.”

Rep. Kim said, “I believe that recapturing the Nakdong River belt will be the start of a great victory for the country,” and added, “I will throw my whole body into Yangsan, the front line of the Nakdong River.”

He met with reporters after the press conference and said, “It would probably be difficult to refuse the party’s request to make a decision with a heart that truly cares and saves the country amidst the difficult reality.” It would have been seen as a person. He explained, “It is a structure that has no choice but to shift the focus of thoughts from myself to the party and its larger meaning.”

When asked whether the party needs more people running in difficult areas, he said, “This is the most difficult situation, and I believe that whatever resources are available, they should be put to full use.”

At the same time, when asked, ‘Do you feel disappointed about the party’s request to run in a difficult district?’ he said, “I have never been comfortable during an election. If you think about it differently, I am willing to do it because I am the person who has received the most grace and grown up so far more than anyone else in the People Power Party.” “I always think that when times are difficult, you have to take a step forward and participate.”

When asked whether those running for office in rough areas should come from regions other than PK (Busan and Gyeongnam), Rep. Kim said, “In principle, I don’t think the situation is that good. “There are people who have managed the region and have worked hard,” he said. “However, from the party’s perspective, if we believe that 2% is insufficient, we believe that it is a situation where we have no choice but to deploy him as a master general during the war, even if it means risking the pain, in order to lead to victory. “I think it can continue if necessary,” he said.

Rep. Kim said of Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Doo-gwan, the incumbent lawmaker of Yangsan-eul, “Candidate Kim mentioned my name and left a message saying he would welcome me and that we would hang out in a cool way. Although I am a junior in age, I am a senior in terms of governor.” “I think you should be a little more polite to me,” he emphasized.

Regarding running for office in Yangsan, where former President Moon Jae-in’s sister-in-law is located and where the Democratic Party is strong, Rep. Kim said, “In the end, it is up to the citizens’ evaluation and it is a question of what kind of attitude, will, and vision Kim Tae-ho will empathize with.” “It is clear that it is a symbolic place,” he said. “It would be good if our leaders always served as leaders of the people and leaders of unity, but it would be a pity if the message of national division that still causes pain comes from a big adult. “I hope something like that doesn’t happen,” he said.
