Santiago Gimenez will not be present in Feyenoord’s next match in the TOTO KNVB Cup. The Mexican received a yellow card in the second half against AZ and was therefore suspended for the semi-final of the cup tournament.
Gimenez received a yellow card in the last minute of the home match against PSV, and during the second half in the quarter-final against the Alkmaarders. This results in an automatic suspension for Feyenoord’s next match. In the semi-finals everyone starts from zero again.
“It’s true that we have to miss Giménez,” Slot said at the press moment. ”But we also have Ayase Ueda back. That’s also an excellent striker. He also came in well against AZ. He worked hard and kept the ball well at times.”
It is not yet known who the opponent will be in the semi-finals. The draw will take place on Saturday evening. NEC Nijmegen and SC Cambuur have managed to qualify. FC Groningen and Fortuna Sittard will decide on Thursday evening who will be the last club to enter the last four.
